Player Prop Bets

Player props are wagers on individual player performance — passing yards, rebounds, strikeouts, goals — regardless of the game outcome.

Example — NBA

Jayson Tatum over 27.5 points

A $100 wager at -110 wins $91 if Tatum scores 28 or more points in the game.

How It Works at MA Sportsbooks

Every Massachusetts sportsbook offers player props across NFL (passing/rushing/receiving yards, TDs, receptions), NBA (points, rebounds, assists, threes, double-doubles), MLB (strikeouts, hits, total bases, home runs), and NHL (shots, goals, assists, saves). Alternate prop lines let you buy or sell numbers at adjusted odds. Player prop limits are typically much lower than game-line limits.

Pros

  • Game outcome doesn't matter
  • Many soft markets at smaller books
  • Massive variety per game

Cons

  • Limits set lower on props
  • Injury / DNP risk
  • Coaches' minute management can swing outcomes

Pro Tips

  • Shop props across multiple MA books — pricing variance is high
  • Track usage trends (minutes, snap counts, pitch counts) for edge
  • Avoid props on star players the public hammers — the line will move
